Information to Seniors:

Graduation is drawing near very quickly so you should start getting ready if you haven’t already!  Mail out your announcements this week if you haven’t already – that gives you a good 3 weeks before the event.  This is considered a formal event.  YOU should address your own announcements as well as write your own thank-you notes!  After all, this is NOT your parent’s graduation!!  On your announcements, be sure to put your return address when mailing.  Also, you should have your thank-you notes out no later than 2-3 weeks following your reception.

Graduation practice will be on the morning of the ceremony (Friday, May 23rd).  YOU ARE EXPECTED TO BE THERE!!  Any senior not participating in the practice is NOT allowed to go through the ceremony.  The cooks will be preparing a special “seniors” breakfast that morning at 8:45.  This is an extra effort on their part, so be appreciative.  We will be wearing our caps for practice – I will hand them out that morning.  Girls, you should bring along and wear the shoes you will be wearing for the ceremony – this will help you to be more comfortable with them!

Practice - Friday, May 23rd:

8:15-8:45                     Senior locker check-out (you will be given a check-out form on Wednesday, May 21st that will need to be all filled out and signed by all teachers and other staff before you can do your locker check-out…you will get these signatures on Thursday, May 22nd don’t forget!!).  Meet by the lockers at 8:15am.

8:45-9:15                     Senior Breakfast (this is specially prepared for you guys from the cooks – make sure you thank them while going through the line – they’ve served you lunch for many years!)

9:15-????                     Set up and practice for the ceremony – we don’t start practice until it is all set up right (so the more you help, the quicker it gets set up and we’re ready for practice).  We then practice until we know you are ready for the ceremony!

After practice               Seniors must leave school – no hanging around in the halls, outside, etc.  We can’t disturb other students still in class!

**Information on the Graduation Ceremony is on the back!

Graduation Night – Friday, May 23rd, 20087:30pm

1)         Be to the school by 6:45pm to get Gowns, Caps, Tassels, Honor Cords, etc. in the Media Center.  You can leave any personal belongings (purses, cameras, other shoes, etc.) in there during the ceremony (it will be locked).

2)         Have your parents/guardians in the cafeteria no later than 7:10pm.  Introduce them to Mrs. Brand/Mrs. Carlson so they know who they are seating!!  There will only be 2 chairs per family in the reserved seating section of the gym, unless you need an additional seat or 2 (for step-parents only).  You will need to let Mrs. Brand know if you need extras so the correct number can be set up (I will be asking you soon if you don’t come and tell me).

3)         Your chosen family members will be taken to the gym at 7:15pm to be seated.  They are welcome to take pictures during the ceremony if they wish.

4)         Seniors are to line up in the hall by the counselor’s office by 7:25pm, ready to go!  Mrs. Brand will give you some reminders, and at 7:30, “Pomp and Circumstance” (the music for us to walk in to) begins.  Remember to make your parents/guardians proud!  By 8:30pm, the ceremony should be done!!

5)         After the reception line in the cafeteria, return your gown to the rack in the Media Center.  The cap and tassel (and honor cords if you earned them!) are yours to keep!

6)         Then, you are free to go!  Have a safe night of celebration!  Best wishes and have a good life!!
