Why do we participate in Red Ribbon Week?
We participate in Red Ribbon Week to encourage students to lead drug free lives. Red Ribbon week is a time to celebrate lives that remain drug free and a time to pledge to live a safe and drug-free life. Red Ribbon week is also a time to reflect on and remember those lives which have been lost in the fight against drugs.
How did Red Ribbon Week get its start?
Red Ribbon events honor U. S. Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camerena, who was kidnapped and killed after uncovering a multibillion-dollar drug ring in Mexico. We support Camerena's efforts by wearing red to symbolize our commitment to living drug-free. SADD is inviting the student body to help us commemorate "Kiki"'s death by promoting the choice for a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
You can make a difference!
