Underage Tobacco Use

Our theme for the year will be focusing in on preventing underage tobacco use. The addictions teens form today can affect them for the rest of their lives. Chewing tobacco and smoking are forms of tobacco that have many underage participants. Many teens try smoking or chewing seeing it as no big deal. They may use it frequently to fit in or to escape from the stress of life, without realizing they have formed an addiction.

Chewing tobacco over a period of time can cause some pretty nasty side effects, including bad breath, tooth decay, gum slump, bad eating habits from weakened taste buds, damage to tongue, jaw, and lips, and it can even cause lung or oral cancer. And, if anyone decides to kiss you they'll probably think you taste pretty nasty. There goes your love life! So, put down the chew, save some money, and enrich your life with positive activities.

Smoking tobacco also has some horrific side effects. Smoking tobacco can cause cancer, heart problems, lung problems, and of course it leaves you with a stench of smoke everytime you have one. Smoking not only effects you, but the people around you can inhale secondhand smoke and develop cancer from that smoke. Smoking is expensive, time consuming, and life threatening. Wabasso SADD knows you can find something better to do with your time and money.
