The regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District
#640 was held on Monday, October 22, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of
the Wabasso Public School.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz called the meeting
to order with all members present except Dan Dahl and Orlean Stage. Also present were Superintendent Ted Suss and
visitors Raymond Rivera, Traci Bernardy, and Dave Blank.
Margaret
Wambeke made and Barb Hoffman seconded a motion to adopt the agenda as
amended. Motion carried unanimously.
Caroline
Netzke moved and Nick Welu seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the
Regular Board meeting on September 24, 2007.
Motion carried unanimously.
Caroline
Netzke made and Barb Hoffman seconded a motion to accept the Treasurer’s
report. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Nick Welu and
seconded by Margaret Wambeke to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

were presented during the open forum portion of the meeting.
Dave Blank was present
to give the Site Council Report of activities and information.
Motion made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Nick Welu
that the ISD 640 Board of Education accept the bid from Palmer Bus Company
for bus number 1 in the amount of $2481.50 and bus number 5 in the amount of $
1,100.00 payable towards payment for a 2002 Dodge van VIN
1B4GP25352B710167. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion made by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Barb Hoffman
that the ISD 640 Board of Education accept the bid from Peter Jenniges for
surplus wrestling mats in the amount of $100.00. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Nick Welu and seconded by Margaret Wambeke
that the ISD 640 Board of Education accept the bid from John Schuh for one
batting cage in the amount of $5.00.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Barb Hoffman
that the ISD 640 Board of Education Authorize the Superintendent to
sell the 1995 Dodge Spirit and the 1995 Dodge Caravan by direct negotiation. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Nick Welu
that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve the purchase of a 2002 Dodge Van
VIN 1B4GP25352B710167at a purchase price of $5,300. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Margaret
Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board of Education will meet at 7:00 p.m. on
Thursday, November 8, 2007 for the purpose of canvassing the November 6, 2007
referendum election. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Nick Welu
that the ISD 640 Board of Education transfer $24,746 from the General Fund to
the Community Services Fund to offset a deficit in the account reserved for
Community Education for the year ending June 30, 2007. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Nick Welu and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD
640 Board of Education hire Tamera Welch to as a Cook I for 6.5 hours per
school day, placing her on step one of the
Motion made by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Margaret
Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board of Education hire Mary White as a Cook II
for four hours per school day, placing her on step one on the salary
schedule. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Nick Welu and seconded by Caroline Netzke
that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve the unpaid family medical leave
request of Valerie Wyffels for up to one year with the understanding that she
may return for work at the end of her leave if work is available. Motion
carried unanimously.
Motion made by Barb Hoffman and seconded by Caroline Netzke
that the ISD 640 Board of Education increase the hours of work for Gail
Seikora Hansen to 7 hours per school day.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Nick Welu
that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve a maternity leave request
submitted by Caaren Mathiowetz beginning February 28, 2008 and continuing
through May 30, 2008. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Barb Hoffman
that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve the preliminary Wabasso Education
Association Seniority Roster for posting.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Nick Welu and seconded by Caroline Netzke
that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve the preliminary AFSCME Seniority
List and provide it to the bargaining representative. Motion carried unanimously.
