The Truth In Taxation Levy Hearing meeting of the School
Board of Independent School District #640 was held on Thursday, November 29,
2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wabasso Public School.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz called the meeting to order
with all members present except Caroline Netzke. Also present were Superintendent Ted Suss
and visitors Linda Carlson and Val Oftedahl.
Margaret Wambeke made and Dan Dahl seconded a motion to
adopt the agenda as amended. Motion
carried unanimously.
Superintendent Suss presented the Levy information and
discussion was held. Since all persons
who desired to address the Board regarding the levy information have done so,
there is no need for a continuation meeting on December 10, 2007.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz adjourned the Levy Hearing
meeting at 7:06 p.m.
The Board of Education then
proceeded with the regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School
District #640 with Chairperson Leon Plaetz called the meeting to order at 7:07
p.m. with all members present except Caroline Netzke. Also present were Superintendent Ted Suss and
visitors Greg Guetter, Linda Carlson, Val Oftedahl, Raymond Rivera and Dave
Nester.
Orlean Stage made and Nick Welu seconded a motion to
adopt the agenda as amended. Motion
carried unanimously.
Margaret Wambeke moved and Barb Hoffman seconded a motion
to approve the minutes of the board meeting on November 8, 2007. Motion carried unanimously.
Nick Welu made and Dan Dahl seconded a motion to accept
the Treasurer’s report. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion made by Orlean Stage and seconded by Barb Hoffman
to pay the bills as presented. Motion
carried unanimously.
No Items were presented during the Open Forum portion of
the meeting.
The Site Council Report was given by Linda Carlson.
Motion
made by Nick Welu and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD 640 Board of
Education approve the
Motion
made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD 640 Board of
Education approve the seniority list of members of the American Federation of
State County and Municipal Employees,
Motion made by Orlean Stage and seconded by Nick Welu
that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve an HVAC project in the gymnasium at
a total estimated cost of approximately $95,000.00. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Dan Dahl
that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve a contract with Bisbee Plumbing and
Heating in the amount of $44,220 to install the replacement HVAC system in the
gymnasium. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion
made by Nick Welu and seconded by Margaret Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board of
Education approve the purchase of 16,000 CFM hot water rooftop unit with a heat
recovery component from Schwab, Vollhaber, and Lubratt, Inc. in the amount of
$41,612.00. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Orlean Stage and seconded by Margaret Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board of Education accept the FY 2007 Fiscal Audit prepared and presented by Nester and Nester, the school district auditors. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Nick Welu and seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD 640 Board of Education hire Aldon Struchen as Assistant Wrestling coach for the 2007-2008 season. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Barb Hoffman and seconded by Margaret Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board of Education hire Kelly Salfer to serve as Advisor/Supervisor of the Dance Club within the Community Education Department for the 2007-2008 season for a salary of $1,000.00. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Barb Hoffman and seconded by Orlean Stage that the ISD 640 Board of Education hire Alan Dewey to serve as a Junior High Basketball coach for the 2007-2008 season. Motion carried unanimously.
