The regular meeting of the School
Board of Independent School District #640 was held on Monday, February 25,
2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wabasso Public School.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz called the
meeting to order with all members present. Also present were Superintendent Ted
Suss and visitors Corinna Erickson, Carol Hamilton, and Raymond Rivera.
Caroline
Netzke made and Margaret Wambeke seconded a motion to adopt the agenda as
amended. Motion carried unanimously.
Orlean
Stage moved and Dan Dahl seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the
organizational meeting on January 28, 2008.
Motion carried unanimously.
Margaret
Wambeke made and Caroline Netzke seconded a motion to accept the Treasurer’s
report. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Orlean Stage and
seconded by Margaret Wambeke to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
No items
were presented during the open forum portion of the meeting.
Corinna Erickson was present to
give the Site Council Report to the Board.
She reported on the Site Council’s most recent activities and
discussions.
Motion made by Barb Hoffman and
seconded by Caroline Netzke that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve the
2008-2009 School Day Calendar as proposed.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Margaret Wambeke
and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve
student participation in more than one MSHSL sport in a season. Roll call vote:
Wambeke-Yes, Dahl-Yes, Hoffman-Yes, Netzke-No, Plaetz-Yes, Stage-No,
Welu-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Nick Welu and
seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve contracts with
the SW/WC Service Cooperative as follows:
Membership $1351.55

Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Orlean Stage and
seconded by Nick Welu that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve a change in
the March 2008 Board of Education meeting date from March 24, 2008 to March 31,
2008. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Caroline Netzke and
seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD 640 Board of Education hire Bonnie Hoffenkamp
to work as a paraprofessional in the ECSE program for ten hours per week,
placing her at the first step of the salary schedule. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Caroline Netzke and
seconded by Nick Welu that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve the labor
relations Agreement between the Confidential and Supervisory Employees and ISD
640 for the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2009. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Margaret Wambeke
and seconded by Nick Welu that the ISD 640 Board of Education hire Mike Meyer
as Instrumental Music Teacher including an extended contract for 20 days of
teaching during the summer months and as Band Director beginning with the
2008-2009 school year and placing him at the B.A. lane, step 1 of the salary
schedule. Motion carried unanimously.
Superintendent Suss presented
information to the ISD 640 Board of Education on the status of the Wind Energy
Project.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz adjourned the meeting at 8:22 p.m.
