The regular meeting of the School
Board of Independent School District #640 was held on Monday, March 31, 2008,
at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wabasso Public School.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz called the
meeting to order with all members present. Also present were Superintendent
Caroline
Netzke made and Dan Dahl seconded a motion to adopt the agenda as amended. Motion carried unanimously.
Orlean
Stage moved and Margaret Wambeke seconded the motion to approve the minutes of
the organizational meeting on February 25, 2008. Motion carried unanimously.
Margaret
Wambeke made and Caroline Netzke seconded a motion to accept the Treasurer’s
report. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Orlean Stage and
seconded by Dan Dahl to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
During the
open forum portion of the meeting Greg Guetter discussed bus driver wages for
both extra-curricular and route driving.
No Site Council member was present
to give a report to the Board.
Superintendent Suss presented
information to the ISD 640 Board of Education on the procedures that will be
used to implement multi-sport participation by athletes during the spring 2008
season. Permitting multi-sport
participation is being treated as a single season experiment. A decision will be made following this season
as to allowing multi-sport participation in future years.
Motion made by Caroline Netzke and
seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD #640 Board of Education approve a revised
FY2008 General Fund revenue budget in the amount of $3,893,962 and a revised
General Fund expenditure budget in the amount of $3,878,698. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made
by Nick Welu and seconded by Orlean Stage that the ISD #640 Board of Education
declare several dozen folding chairs surplus and authorizes the sale of these
chairs by advertisement on a first come first serve basis. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made
by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD #640 Board of
Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to dispose of miscellaneous
small items, through sale or by discard, that are not listed on the school
district Physical Asset inventory and that have no further use within the
school district programs. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion made
by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD #640 Board of
Education approve the proposed Entity Authorization to permit those individuals
named in the authorization to conduct banking transactions in accordance with
the authorization. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion made
by Nick Welu and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD #640 Board of Education
hire
Motion made
by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Orlean Stage that the ISD #640 Board of
Education approve hiring student summer custodial help for up to 480 hours at a
rate of pay of $8.00 per hour. Motion
carried unanimously.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
