The regular meeting of the School
Board of Independent School District #640 was held on Monday, April 28, 2008,
at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wabasso Public School.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz called the
meeting to order with all members present except Nick Welu and Dan Dahl, who
arrived at 7:14p.m. Also present were
Superintendent Ted Suss and visitors Linda Schumacher, Val Oftedahl, and Raymond
Rivera.
Maggie
Wambeke made and Barb Hoffman seconded a motion to adopt the agenda as
amended. Motion carried unanimously.
Orlean
Stage moved and Caroline Netzke seconded the motion to approve the minutes of
the regular meeting on March 24, 2008.
Motion carried unanimously.
Barb
Hoffman made and Maggie Wambeke seconded a motion to accept the Treasurer’s
report. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Orlean Stage and
seconded by Barb Hoffman to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
During the
open forum portion of the meeting Raymond Rivera inquired about publication of
the senior profiles.
No Site Council member was present
to give a report to the Board.
Superintendent Suss reviewed the
FY2009 Budget Materials with the Board Members.
Superintendent Suss presented
information on the projected staffing needs for the 2008-2009 school year.
Motion made by Maggie Wambeke and
seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve membership
to the Minnesota State High School League for the 2008-2009 school year. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made
by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Margaret Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board of
Education set May 19, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. as the date for the regular May 2008
meeting of the Board of Education.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Orlean
Stage and seconded Margaret Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve
summer hours for the district office as follows: Monday through Thursday 7:00
AM through 4:15 PM and Friday 7:00 AM until 12:00 noon beginning on Monday June
2, 2008 through Friday August 29, 2008.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Dan Dahl and
seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve an end of
year lump sum payment to teachers at the May 30th payroll that
includes payment for June, July and August and all deductions that would
normally be taken from the June, July and August payroll. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Caroline
Netzke and seconded by Orlean Stage that the ISD 640 Board of Education approve
hiring Rebecca Guetter and Christopher Eichten for the student summer custodial
positions at a rate of pay of $8.00 per hour for up to a total of 480 hours
combined. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Margaret
Wambeke and seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD 640 Board of Education accept the
resignation of Garry Leuning from his position as a Teacher and Assistant Girls
Basketball Coach effective the end of the 2007-2008 school year. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made
by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD 640 Board of
Education hire Tara Morin as a full time Spanish Teacher for the 2008-2009
school year. Motion carried unanimously.

Leon Plaetz adjourned the meeting at 7:42 p.m.
