The regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District
#640 was held on Monday, August 27 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the
Wabasso Public School.
Vice-Chairperson Caroline Netzke called the meeting to order with all members present
except Leon Plaetz and Orlean
Stage. Also present were Superintendent
Barb
Hoffman made and Dan Dahl seconded a motion to adopt the agenda as
amended. Motion carried unanimously.
Nick Welu moved and Margaret Wambeke
seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the Regular Board meeting on July
23, 2007. Motion carried unanimously.
Margaret Wambeke made and Dan Dahl seconded a motion to accept the
Treasurer’s report. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion made by Dan Dahl and seconded
by Nick Welu to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Superintendent Suss reported that the Site Council met in August and discussed the plans and help needed for the School Open House.
Motion
made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Dan Dahl
that the ISD 640 Board of
Education approve the sale of Bus
number 3 for the amount of $1,500, bus number 6 for the
amount of $21,500 and bus number 8
for the amount of $21,500 to Palmer Bus Company.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion
made by Nick Welu and seconded by Barb Hoffman that
the ISD 640 Board of
Education approve the attached
contract with Palmer Bus Company for transporting students to
and from school on two bus
routes. Motion carried unanimously.

that the JOBZ Zone
Resolution be approved as follows:
RESOLUTION

A
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MODIFICATION OF JOBZ SUBZONE NUMBER 12,
WHEREAS, the purpose of the JOBZ
Sub-Zone program is to revitalize economically distressed areas to
attract jobs and people; and
WHEREAS, Jonti-Craft
wishes to expand their manufacturing facilities and add additional jobs; and
WHEREAS, there are currently 26.40
unutilized JOBZ acres within the city limits of the City of Wabasso;
Outlot O, Outlots A to R inclusive to the Town of Wabasso to the
following property, located at 170 State Hwy 68,
Commencing at a point 400 feet
East of the Northwest corner of the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter
(NE1/4 of NE1/4) of Section 26,
Township One Hundred Eleven (111) North of Range Thirty0seven (37) West of
the Fifth Principal Meridian,
thence South a distance of 800 feet, thence East and parallel with the North
line of
said Section 26 a distance of 400

the ISD 640 Board of
Education approve a contract in
the Amount of $49,150 with Bisbee Plumbing and Heating of
Marshall, Minnesota for completion
of the HVAC retrofitting of the Science and Social Studies
classrooms. Motion carried unanimously.

by Nick Welu and seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD
640 Board of Education approve the purchase of a rooftop air-handling unit from
Schwab-Vollhaber-Lubratt, Inc. in the amount of
$11,650. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion
made by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Margaret Wambeke that the ISD 640
Board of Education direct the
Superintendent of Schools to prepare the necessary documents
and take all necessary steps to
conduct an operating levy referendum in the amount of $500 per
pupil unit on November 6,
2007. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion
made by Nick Welu and seconded by Barb Hoffman that
the ISD 640 Board of
Education schedule and hold a
special meeting of the board at 7:00 P.M. on Monday September 10,
2007 to take action concerning an
operating levy referendum. Motion
carried unanimously.
Motion
made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Dan Dahl
that the ISD 640 Board of
Education approve the attached
Attachment-99 for the 2007-2008 school year.

ISD 640 Board of Education accept the resignation of Kathy Plaetz
from her position as Assistant Cook. Motion carried unanimously.

ISD 640 Board of Education accept the resignation of Isaac Jenniges
from his positions as Assistant Football and Assistant Baseball Coaches
effective immediately. Motion carried

hire Tamera Welch as an Assistant Cook (Cook II) for
four hours each school day, placing her on the first step of the AFSCME
contract, and as a half-route Bus Driver.

ISD 640 Board of Education hire Gail Seikora-Hanson
to serve as part time paraprofessional for 18 hours each week in the Early
Childhood Special Education classroom and to provide ECSE transportation to and
from school and to be placed on Step 1 of the salary schedule provided in the
AFSCME labor relations contract. Motion
carried unanimously.

the ISD 640 Board of Education hire Carrie Schulte to serve as part time
paraprofessional for 12 hours each week in the Early Childhood Special
Education classroom and to assist in providing ECSE transportation to and from
school and to be placed on Step 1 of the salary schedule provided in the AFSCME
labor relations contract. Motion carried
