The regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District
#640 was held on Monday, September 24, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of
the Wabasso Public School.
Chairperson Leon Plaetz called the
meeting to order with all members present except. Also present were Superintendent
Margaret
Wambeke made and Caroline Netzke seconded a motion to adopt the agenda as
amended. Motion carried unanimously.
Dan Dahl
moved and Nick Welu seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the Special
Board meeting on September 10, 2007.
Motion carried unanimously.
Caroline
Netzke made and Barb Hoffman seconded a motion to accept the Treasurer’s
report. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion made by Orlean Stage and
seconded by Nick Welu to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
No items were presented during the
open forum portion of the meeting.
The tentative Board of Education meeting schedule was reviewed with no changes being made.
Motion
made by Orlean Stage and seconded by Margaret Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board of
Education approve the preliminary
2007, payable 2008 levy in the amount of $728,413.98. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion
made by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Margaret Wambeke that the ISD 640 Board
of Education declare the following items as surplus and direct the sale of
these items through sealed bid: School Bus Number 1, School Bus Number 5, 1995
Dodge car, 1996 Dodge Caravan van, various
wrestling mat sections, two batting cages.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion
made by Nick Welu and seconded by Orlean Stage that the ISD 640 Board of Education
approve a service agreement with
IDEA@S for maintenance of the school district technology system at
rate of $70 per hour not to exceed
$15,400 for the 2007-2008 contract year.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion
made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD 640 Board of
Education
approve the 2007-2008 lease for
the St Anne’s Gymnasium and Title I room in the amount of $25,312.00.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion
made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD 640 Board of
Education accept a donation to the
Wabasso
amount of $20,000 for the purpose
of purchasing real estate adjacent to school district property for
development of an Environmental
Learning Center. Motion carried
unanimously.
Motion
made by Caroline Netzke and seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD 640 Board of
Education
authorize the Superintendent of
Schools to take such steps as are necessary, including obtaining legal
services,
to purchase real property located
at 1467 Elm Street, 1469 Elm Street, 1471 Elm Street, and Lot 3 block 1
of the Elm Street Second Addition
for a purchase price not to exceed $20,000.

appoint the following persons to
serve as Substitute

made by Orlean Stage and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD 640 Board of
Education
appoint the following persons to
serve as Substitute Paraprofessionals as needed in the school district
classrooms: Kathy Plaetz, Julie
Kramer, and Joanne Bernardy. Motion
carried unanimously.

made by Nick Welu and seconded by Caroline Netzke that the ISD 640 Board of
Education
approve the hiring of

Motion
made by Margaret Wambeke and seconded by Barb Hoffman that the ISD 640 Board of
Education accept the resignation
of Maynard Martensen from his position as afternoon route bus driver.
Motion carried unanimously.

seconded by Dan Dahl that the ISD 640 Board of Education accept the resignation
of
