Site Council Minutes—May 7, 2008

 

 

 

I.                  Additions—none

II.             Student Concerns—none

III.         Monthly Reports

A.     Staff Development—Hopefully all teachers have registered for the fall workshop in Marshall.

B.      Curriculum Review—HS Social Studies is on schedule; Elementary is staying with what they have.  Math is starting to get samples in the HS.

C.      Climate—Nurses and Teacher’s week is being observed.  Caaren’s shower was held on April 30th.

D.     Discipline—a few absences are being addressed with only 1 not involving a prolonged illness.  Overall it’s been a mild year with little concern.

E.      Scheduling—Sign up has taken place.  Ted is working on assignments with scheduling to take place in the summer.

F.      Finance/Budget—The budget will be taken to the board in June for final adoption.

IV.             Old Business

A.     Gincana!—The activities are going as scheduled with both positive and negative comments from students.

B.      NWEA testing—Tomorrow (5-8-08) will be the final day for the 8th graders with 8 left to test.  Elementary is finished and the window closes on Friday, May 9.  It was suggested that the window be increased in the future to accommodate the  Special Ed. department.

C.      MCA-II testing—Currently taking place

V.                 New Business

A.     Student Handbook—After a discussion, it was decided that no major changes would take place.  It was suggested that extra passes be added but closer monitoring of the existing passes was recommended.

B.      Graduation—Graduation will take place on Friday, May 23, at 7:30 PM.  It was suggested that we hire a photographer to assure that everyone has the opportunity to get a good photo of their child receiving their diploma.  Linda and Becky will look into this.  The arrangement of the platform was also discussed.

C.      End of the year events!

1.       Elementary Awards Ceremony—Thursday, May 29 at 10 AM.

2.     Pops Concert—May 16

3.     Elem/JH Concert—May 20

4.     6th grade field trip

5.     Integration field day—May 14

6.     Several sporting events/play-offs
