Site Council Minutes

November 7, 2007

I.                    Additions to Agenda—Dec. 17 Site Council representative at Board Meeting

II.                 Student Concerns—Holden Salfer, representing the student council, attended the meeting with the following issues:

A.   Table clean up in the cafeteria—The High School students were asking if the tables could be washed off after the elementary eats so             they could eat at clean tables.  It was decided that Mr. Suss would address this.

B.   The students also requested more items available on the ala carte line.  We explained that the state won’t allow some items such as    candy, more sweets, etc.

C.   The students also asked if the East door could be unlocked at 3:05 and left unlocked until the practices for the day are over.  This way             if the go to their cars and forget something, they can reenter the building without  walking all the way around.  We decided to grant   the request and ask the custodian to lock the door at 6:30 PM following practice.

                  D.   The students asked if library books could be checked out for more than 2 weeks.  We decided to encourage them to renew the books                              if they are needed longer.

III.               Monthly Reports—

A.      Staff Development—The surveys were reviewed and it was determined that the items that generated the most interest for in-services were: workshops to fulfill licensure items, CPR training, technology training

B.       Curriculum Review—none

C.      Climate Committee—

1.      Baby shower for Dawn Guetter on Nov. 28.

2.      Excel nominations

3.      Secret Santa

4.      Monthly Socials

IV.              Old Business

A.      Homeroom—After a lengthy discussion, it was decided that

homeroom should be left as it is.  It’s used for meetings and early dismissals.  Eliminating it would cause problems in both these areas again.

B.       Principal Duties—A discussion was held concerning the sharing duties.  This subject will be revisited again next month.

V.                 New Business

A.      Beginning of the day start time—It was suggested that maybe we could start school earlier and have Homeroom begin earlier?  Just an idea.

B.       Elementary recess—change temps to be outside—It was decided to leave them as is.

Next meeting:   Wednesday, Dec. 5
