Cottontail Time

District 640 Community Education is excited to offer a 3-year-old preschool program, Cottontail Time, for children who will be 3 years old by September 1, 2007.  The goal of the program is to provide young children with the opportunity to learn, discover, and interact with other children and a licensed early childhood teacher in a developmentally appropriate classroom setting, while building their self-esteem, confidence in their abilities, and comfort level in a school setting.

Children’s play is their work.  Children learn best through being actively involved in their environment.  Activities provided will be hands-on and self-directed with-in limits, allowing children to participate freely in a variety of available activities throughout the room (including projects, dramatic play, manipulatives, sensory materials, blocks, fine motor activities, etc.)  Large group times will also be included with songs, stories, fingerplays, games, and large motor activities.

Classes will meet on Mondays throughout the school year beginning September 10, 2007 and ending May 19, 2007.  Class time will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Parents are responsible for arranging transportation to and from school.

The cost of this class is $30.00 a month (September – May) with a $10.00 one-time registration fee.  The class will be held in the early childhood room at Wabasso Public School.  Community Education recognizes that parents are the first and most influential teachers of their children; therefore, it is required that all families enrolling their child in Cottontail Time must also participate in at least one 6 week session of Early Childhood Family Education during the school year.

The class will be filled on a first come first serve basis with limited enrollment.  Additional registrations will be put on a waiting list with another class being added if thee are enough registrants.  You can register by contacting the Community Education Office at 342-7403 or the Early Childhood Office at 342-7195 or guetted@wabassoschool.com.  A registration form will then be sent to you and will be considered complete when it is received along with the $10 registration fee.
